It’s fire season at Big Ridge and the Spring House and the Writer’s Hut are both fully-stocked with firewood. Whether you are building a fire in the fireplace, the wood stove, or the fire pit, I thought you might appreciate my take on building a fire; I apply the same technique in every situation.

Many thanks to Rhea for making this video. She insists it is about 4x longer than necessary, so don’t blame her for the lack of brevity. As Mae West said, “Anything worth doing is worth doing slowly.”

If you’re interested in some hand-crafted fire clompers like the ones I review in this video (at the 6m51s mark), Maksym will set you up.

As I published this, I noticed an old video from the Big Ridge pioneer days, also produced by Rhea. If you like wood stoves or omelets, you will enjoy this.
